According to data from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), global alumina production reached 13.373 million tons in October 2025, a month-on-month increase of approximately 3.8%. During the same period, estimated alumina production in China rose to 8.21 million tons. This increase in production suggests a potential downward pressure on raw material costs.

In the zirconia sector, a major Chinese producer has approved an investment of 737 million RMB for a new project. This project, scheduled to commence in January 2026, aims to produce 60,000 tons of new energy battery-grade zirconium oxychloride and 12,000 tons of high-purity oxides. The move is strategically positioned to capture opportunities in the emerging downstream application fields of the zirconium industry.
